At Japanese Healing, our motto is “no pain and lots of gain!” When performed by a seasoned acupuncturist, you will find acupuncture to be very gentle and relaxing.
Did you know that acupuncture needles are as thin as a strand of hair? At 1/5th the thickness of injection needles, they are extremely thin and can smoothly penetrate the skin without any discomfort. Acupuncture needles are single-use, disposable and sterile.
Our clinic uses Japanese SEIRIN acupuncture needles, the highest quality needles available in the world. Unlike other manufacturers, these innovative needles have a round needle-tip which allows for a smooth, painless needle insertion that doesn’t damage tissues in the body. The product of state-of-the-art manufacturing technology with stringent processes and controls, SEIRIN needles are the smoothest, safest, and most advanced acupuncture needle available in the world.
When receiving acupuncture, patients can often experience many different sensations. Depending on the aim of the acupuncturist, that sensation may also differ. Some practitioners seek to create a dull, achy, and heavy sensation at the site of needle insertion. At our clinic, however, Dr. Komatsu seeks to provide the most comfortable experience for his patients. When needled by Dr. Komatsu, patients hardly experience any needle sensation. Instead, they often report feeling a lightness and deep relaxation spreading throughout the body.
We invite you to visit Japanese Healing and to experience this painless and immediate-acting acupuncture for yourself!
Yes! Acupuncturists use sterile, single-use disposable needles. They are used once and then disposed of in biohazard containers.
What makes acupuncture so safe is its natural approach to healing. It is gentler than western medicine because its principle revolves around the concept of guiding the body to heal itself.
As a result, patients tend to experience very little side-effects comparatively. Patients may feel tired and sleepy after treatments. This is most commonly due to the healing change induced in the body, and after a good night’s rest you will feel good to go! If anything, patients often experience ‘after-effects’ such as improved sleep, reduced stress, and better energy!
Once in a while, slight bruising may occur after the needle is removed. This is not harmful or painful, and will clear within a few days.
In order to ensure that your acupuncture treatments are safe, comfortable, and effective we ask that you heed the following advice before and after your treatment:
Acupuncture treatments generally last 50-60 minutes. Please wear loose fitting and comfortable clothing, as this makes the evaluation and treatments easier.
The beauty of acupuncture is its emphasis on treating the individual as a whole. Acupuncture doesn’t just treat the disease, but also the underlying unique pattern that develops in each person. For example, there may be six people being treated for lower back pain, but each patient would be receiving a different treatment based on their constitution and other life factors. This makes for a unique and customized treatment for any type of condition and individual.

After I was diagnosed with sciatica, I could not walk for 3 weeks and my tennis coach was discouraged that this was the end of my tennis career, a tennis student recommended acupuncture and found me the best acupuncturist in YELP. That was Dr. Komatsu.
For the next three weeks, Dr. Komatsu treated me twice a week and I was able to teach tennis again.

I have been suffering from back pain and discomfort in my legs and feet for 20 years and have received various symptomatic treatments, including acupuncture and moxibustion, in this area. I have a weak digestive system, and when I have an upset stomach, my legs and back become painful, and I also have a thyroid gland problem, so my immunity is always low and my constitution is not very strong. Dr. Komatsu seemed to understand my constitution and told me to start from the root. I was impressed by his deep insight and kindness to each patient.

I first sought treatment from Dr. Komatsu because my first son was breech when I was pregnant. After the birth of my son, she treated my back pain, neck and shoulder tension, swelling in my lower body, and balance of my physical condition, and I have been a patient of hers ever since.
Now that I have given birth to my first daughter again, I am receiving different treatment this time for stress and frustration of childcare, breastfeeding adjustment, and weight loss after the birth.
